First album of instrumental music by guitarist Libero Dietrich, “Canções Sem Palavras” (“Songs without words") features a selection of works that bring instrumental music and jazz improvisation closer to the universe of song. Complex compositions now can be savored through melodic lines that invite us to hum in an intuitive enjoyment, without the well-known clarity of the verb.
The album presents compositions spanning over a decade and showcasing the wide range of influences of this musician from São Paulo: the rhythmic intensity and melodic fluidity of the Pat Metheny Group, the Ibero-American tradition of "choro" and "tango", Brazilian traditional song, and the use of the voice as an instrumental resource such as in the works of Hermeto Pascoal or Chick Corea.
